Record the location of any hot spot and note the activity, sock condition, lacing, and time when discomfort began. |
Make one change at a time, such as adjusting lacing or changing socks, and reassess on the next wear. |
Tracking patterns helps identify whether the main cause is fit, movement, moisture, or a boot feature. |
Replace or return the boots if the same painful area persists despite reasonable adjustments. |
| Higher-risk situations |
Check feet more frequently if there is diabetes, reduced sensation, poor circulation, a history of foot ulcers, or difficulty seeing the soles of the feet. |
Use a preventive foot-care plan and consult a qualified healthcare professional before treating significant skin damage. |
Reduced sensation can make injuries harder to detect, and some conditions can slow healing. |
Obtain prompt medical advice for any open wound, infected area, unexplained swelling, or blister that does not improve. |
